What's the capital of Somalia?

Don't give it away, just raise your hand if you know the answer (without looking it up). This is an informal poll.

Yeah, I don't recall ever seeing/hearing that city name before. And sadly wasn't sure where Somalia was, either. Sigh. I'm not as educated as I'd like to think I am.

Now I looked it up- I think I might have been able to get it right if this had been a multiple choice quiz...

Lucky for me, I saw Black Hawk Down.

Which is, of course, the only reason I would ever show even a passing bit of interest in a country outside of our own.

USA! USA! USA!

That would really depend on what governement you were supporting. Do you want the capital of the exile gov't? The islamic front gov't, or what?
(Aren't I a stinker?)

Diplowhat aside, I knew the at least at one point correct answer.

Mr. Kluges wants to know why you have a velomobile for your profile pic 'cuz he wants one. (The vehicle, not the pic.) Also he got the capital right, based on the movie reference.

I also knew the correct answer, thanks to spending entirely too much time listening to NPR and watching Black Hawk Down

I do not have a velomobile, and they don't even sell them in the US (arrogant Americans), but Bluevelo sells them in Canada.

It's Mogadishu. My step-dad told me only 1 person out of 100 could come up with it so I wanted to see how many of the people I know, who I consider very intelligent, could pull it out.

I think this crowd listens to enough public radio to get it more right than most. We're smarter than the average bear.

Sorry, I'm a bit late but I admit I didn't know it. Geography never really was my strongest subject though....
